Permits, Permits Permits

So i've been very busy today researching new avenues that i can take to promote my blog and other ways of my money for the house as well. In my search i started thinking to myself, "do i need permission for any of this?". I figured since i'm doing it online i'd be fine, cause isn't the internet kinda like international waters? Its hard to regulate it. Well anyways, some of my other plans that i have yet to set in motion include canvasing to actual business's and to sell ad space on a web page that i have yet to set up and apparently that might require a permit or fee, not sure yet. One guy told me that he thought it did, and gave me the number of the manager of another office, so i'll have to wait until monday to talk to her. There's another portion of my plan that requires me to get permission from the gaming office. Problem is that since i'm doing it on the internet, why should i have to pay the city anything at all??? When i could just as easily sell the ad space to other people, and give the prize to someone else? I should ask them, just maybe not put it like that, they might now respond well lol :o)

I got and email today from someone asking me for .50 cents, they had my paypal email address so it seemed kinda fishy to me since i'd received a few other emails at that address about fake donations, ya know the kind that want to send you a check and you send part of it to someone else through western union? I think its called a Nigerian scam. Anyways, this guy didn't want to send me money, he wanted ME to send HIM money. I found myself thinking that maybe this was just some kid poking fun at my fundraiser, case i ask for .50 cents and then he said the same amount and was all like "i really neeeed it!". So instead of telling him off, or ignoring him, i sent him .75 cents US funds (instead of Canadian money), wished him well and inquired what it was for. I figured i should just send it because otherwise the trickster might feel justified in his poking fun at me because i was to cheap to give someone .50 cents but i myself was asking it of others.
But to my surprise, i get an email back from a very thankful guy who actually sincerely did NEED it! He was .50 cents short for a game upgrade online and he'd already waited 2 weeks for the money to upload to paypal and had misjudged the Canadian/US exchange rate and was short .50 cents. If i hadn't have given it to him he would have had to wait another 2 weeks, totaling a whole freaking month. Now that SUCKS! (i've been there...) Anyways, good deed done, i was feeling pretty good about myself that i could help someone. Msde my hour actually. So thanks guy for making my hour!

New Name, Same Cause!

So we ran into a little problem yesterday with paypal and their feeing me out of one cent. Their fee's are 2.9% and another .30 cents on top of that, so in order for your donation to actually reach us it would have to be at least about .50 cents!

But i couldn't see calling the fundraiser "50 Red Cents!" so we gathered in our think-tank (living room) and thinked - or thought! And this is what we came up with.

We already offered something in return for your pennies, so we decided to expand on that and instead of focusing on just one penny, we're focusing on making a deal. What can i do for you to donate to our cause, what crazy thing can you think up that would be worth your money, .50 cents, $1, $2, $5, $20.....?

Lets gain so momentum and who knows, maybe you'll see me on tv like the Red Paper Clip guy!
